Meat tax won’t work

■ Taxing red and processed meats will not solve the problem of heart disease, diabetes or cancer rates (Mirror, Nov 9). In fact, it’ll create more of one as the poor and low paid then seek out even cheaper processed foods to try and feed themselves and their families.

It’s the chemical ingredients in cheap food products which create all this obesity and ill-health which is draining the NHS. But the poor buy these products just to put something in their bellies and to feed their children.

How many rich people buy cheap sausages, cheap bread or cheap processed food?

Why can’t the Government and others not see this?
