PETROLHEAD Simon Cowell looks like a kid on Christmas morning as his new toy is delivered yesterday.
The X Factor boss, 59, has treated himself to a £200,000 Lamborghini Urus, which can do 0-62mph in 3.6seconds and up to 190mph. Simon was thrilled to show his new set of wheels off to son Eric, four, outside his London home. And he may soon be asking to borrow it after Simon said recently: “I taught him how to ride a quad bike.” The latest addition to the pop guru’s luxury fleet will sit alongside motors including a £1million Bugatti Veyron, a £160,000 Bentley Continental GT and a £650,000 Jaguar Eagle Speedster.
SIMON Cowell and Robbie Williams risk hitting a bum note with the X Factor crew by accidentally turning the contestants into divas.
The judges have been encouraging the finalists to take more control over their live performances and speak up if they don’t like a song, stage setting or outfit. Yet I’m told some of finalists have found it a little too easy to tap into their inner Mariah Carey.
“The plan was to treat them like real artists, to encourage them to have more say about their image,” says a source. “But some contestants have taken that freedom and run with it.
“The production crew are having a real headache, especially wardrobe. Contestants are changing their songs at the 11th hour, another refused to use an expensive light prop after the crew had spent thousands of pounds and hours making it. One performer is even consulting an external stylist. It’s chaos – last week’s dress rehearsal overran.”
It comes as Robbie had to skip this weekend’s live show because of a gig in Argentina, only for police to cancel one of the shows over stormy conditions.
Something tells me the X Factor finalists will soon sympathise – the crew will have faces like thunder if they don’t rein it in...
