Southgate’s an honorary Yorks man
TRIBUTE Gareth Southgate ENGLAND football manager Gareth Southgate has been made an honorary Yorkshireman.
The former defender, 48, received the accolade at the White Rose Awards.
Watford-born Southgate, who led the Three Lions to the World Cup semis this year, has lived near Harrogate since 2001.
The football boss, whose team plays USA tomorrow, said at Monday’s ceremony: “The values and friendliness of the people has been incredible.”
Singer Gary Barlow is a previous recipient.
