No end in sight to May’s Brexit chaos
■ LEAVE voters were promised a quick, easy exit deal, more money for public services and better trade deals. Being forced to lower our food standards and reduce workers’ rights was not mentioned.
Since the referendum we have seen a shambolic mess of an EU exit process, frequent lazy incompetence and even lies about detailed impact assessments being undertaken.
Every time the Government edges closer to an agreement, a hardline, dogmatic, small minority of Tory MPs throw a spanner in the works.
We now have a much better understanding of Brexit and if we aren’t allowed to demonstrate this through a second vote, the democratic credibility of any Brexit decision will be in shreds.
Sam Sheldon, Melksham, Wilts ■ I voted to leave the EU and I doubt I would change my vote if there was another referendum. But that doesn’t stop me from being concerned about where our dithering PM is leading us.
We are a nation of nearly 70 million but Theresa May’s only concern seems to be the Brexiteers in her own party and the 10 DUP MPs keeping her in power. How is it possible for her to get a deal that benefits all UK residents when she is terrified of upsetting the minority in Parliament?

■ It’s becoming clear that our choice is the chaos and worsening of our standard of living due to a no-deal, or subservience to the EU with no say. Surely, it is now obvious that we are better off staying in the EU where we have a major say in existing and future developments?
Our PM says defiantly there can be no second referendum. This is strange because the 2016 referendum followed the first one in 1975.
In my view, it’s therefore appropriate to hold a third and deciding referendum. Brian Day, Doncaster
■ Millions of men died to give this country freedom and democracy to rule ourselves, so why can’t MPs and the public get behind the Prime Minister and get us out of one of the most corrupt organisations in the world, ie the EU?
Once we are out, our MPs can sort out their differences and get this great country up and running again. Why are we bowing and scraping to EU officials? Tell them where to go – this country will come good again without the EU.

■ This country has a policy that we do not negotiate with terrorists. Well, the same should apply to the blackmailers of the EU. They are undermining the will of the British people with threat after threat and enough is enough.
Remembrance Day should have reminded them just how much they owe our great country, but their fear of the domino effect of other EU nations leaving appears to be greater than their gratitude.

■ When Mrs May says there will be no second vote on leaving the EU she forgets she is neither an absolute monarch nor a dictator, but a democratically elected MP. The first time we voted we had very few details on what leaving would actually mean. Now we have a much clearer idea of what is involved and many who voted Leave may now have changed their minds and wish to Remain. Valerie Crews Beckenham Kent
