Turn up heat on climate change
No one will weep for millionaire actor Gerard Butler losing his mansion in the California wildfires. But for millions of other Californians, rebuilding will be almost impossible.
More than 60% of the state is in an extended drought and the canyons are so dry they’re little more than kindling. People reported flames bellowing into superheated tornadoes, jumping to the next mountain-top.
When rain finally fell following fires last year, 21 people were killed in the resulting mudslides.
These stories are common in the developing world, with more fatalities. When climate change bites the millionaires, perhaps they’ll fix it.
