Care kids rise for 10th year

THE number of children looked after by councils has increased for the 10th year in a row, to 75,420.

The total is up 27% from 59,370 in the decade and the 2,830 rise on last year is the largest since 2010.

Adoptions from care fell 13% in a year to 3,820, official figures showed.

Charity Coram Voice found 49% of four to sevenyear-olds in care did not fully understand why.

One said: “I’d like to know more about why I’m not living with my mum.”
