EVERY year this mega telethon becomes bigger and bolder, so the pressure is on to beat the staggering £60.7million that was raised last year.

Amazing to think that this annual charity appeal show has been going since 1980, with some brilliant comedy moments along the way.

There was that time Simon Cowell was sawn in half (well nearly). Joanna Lumley stripped, much to the glee of Terry Wogan. Corrie and Enders performed a mash-up sketch, and there was THAT Doctor Who skit when David Tennant “met” former Timelord Peter Davidson.

And who can forget the dance-off between BBC newsreaders and dance supergroup Diversity, or the time that some TV cooks did the Full Monty?

So hopefully there will be plenty to rival these moments in tonight’s extravaganza. Hosted by Tess Daly, Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc, Ade Adepitan, Rochelle and Marvin Humes and Rob Beckett, we’ve been promised an unforgettable night of entertainment.

Pop band Boyzone will join the Strictly pro dancers for a spin under the glitterball and the cast of EastEnders will perform a Disney medley spectacular.

A young girl who is supported by the charity gets the chance to visit the Doctor Who set, enter the TARDIS and meet the entire cast.

There’s a sneak preview of the Call The Midwife Christmas special, and some deserving project workers will be surprised by singing stars including Little Mix, Alfie Boe and Sheridan Smith. Of course, there are plenty of tearjerking appeal films too, which all encourages us to dig deep and beat that fundraising total.
