TYSON CORNERS MARKET ON STAR NAME SECONDS

- BY MARTIN DOMIN

TYSON FURY will have Freddie Roach AND Ricky Hatton in his star-studded corner when he tries to topple world champion Deontay Wilder next month.

Fury has added experience to his training team after ditching his uncle Peter for rookie coach Ben Davison earlier this year.

And he opted for the man who masterminded Manny Pacquiao’s career, including his stunning KO of Hatton in 2009.

Fury said:

“It’s good to have Freddie’s experience, giving us good pointers. And he’s a very nice guy, so I thought I’d invite him to be part of the team.

“It’s always good to have a wise head in the corner and it’s going to be to my advantage.

“He’s been very hospitable and I thought it would be good if we got him in the training – and in the corner as well – to give us some tips.” Davison, who teamed up with Fury for his comeback fight against Sefer Seferi in July, denied he was being undermined.

He said: “It was me who asked Freddie. I’m Tyson’s trainer and what I say goes.

“But what better second could you get than Freddie? Ricky will be with us too.”

Roach, 58, (below) split with Pacquiao earlier this year, but has assisted Fury at his Wild Card gym in Los Angeles.

And he believes Fury can upset Wilder on December 1. Roach said: “He has the ability to outbox Wilder.

“He can’t out-punch him. If he tries to slug with him, he’ll get caught.

“But he’s a good boxer and I think he can box for 12 rounds without any problem whatsoever.

“His best asset is his sight – he sees what’s happening.

“I like him in this fight a lot. I think he has a great game plan to win it.”
