Solanke’s reminder to Klopp
DOMINIC SOLANKE delivered a double reminder to Jurgen Klopp as he fired England kids to an impressive victory.
The Liverpool star has yet to figure for Klopp this season but showed his hunger with a goal in each half as Aidy Boothroyd’s side pulled off the perfect dress rehearsal for the U-21 Euros against the hosts.
Boss Boothroyd played his strongest team and came away with a highprofile scalp.
Solanke finds himself behind superstars Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino as he bids for a place in the Anfield attack.
Boothroyd admitted he was “worried” at the lack of game time Solanke was getting, but at least the striker is fresh for England.
He scored with a towering header after seven minutes. Impressive Italy had plenty of possession and equalised through Moise Keane. But Solanke clinched the win, muscling home another cross, in the 52nd minute.
