BA sued over fat passenger

-

A CIVIL engineer suffered months of pain after sitting next to an “obese” 23-stone man on a 12-hour flight, a court heard.

Stephen Prosser, 51, said the man’s “bulk” put “lateral pressure” on his upper body on BA’s Bangkok to London service.

Mr Prosser, who is 5ft 3in and weighs 9st 12lb, said he was in “continual pain” and got “very little rest”. He said he later suffered back pain and lack of energy, which had affected his relationship with his partner. He is claiming up to £10,000 for pain, suffering and loss of amenity.

BA says Mr Prosser, of Tonypandy, South Wales, “did not display any signs of injury” when leaving the flight.

Judgment was reserved pending a decision at Pontypridd county court.
