COLEMAN: CUT THE MUSTARD

- BY MICHAEL SCULLY

SEAMUS COLEMAN has ordered his Ireland team-mates to “man up” and sort out the atrocious form that could cost them a place at the Euro 2020 finals.

The fortunate 0-0 home draw in Thursday’s friendly with Northern Ireland means that in the Republic have won only one of 10 games in the last 12 months, scoring just five goals.

Martin O’Neill’s squad travel to Aarhus for the final UEFA Nations League clash with Denmark without the suspended James McClean and the injured Sean Maguire. There’s also a doubt over Callum O’Dowda.

“We have to man up to the situation,” said skipper Coleman (above). “We have to take criticism and rightly so, we have not been good enough.

“But the only way we can turn it around is by sticking together and showing what kind of character we have.”

Coleman has also insisted that Ireland must be “braver” in possession to turn around their shocking run of form.
