EPILEPSY CAN’T STOP MATT

- BY DARREN WITCOOP

League Two: 3pm MATT CROOKS’ toughest opponent at Northampton is off the pitch – his daily battle living with epilepsy.

The midfielder (left) has dealt with the potentially deadly condition since being diagnosed while an academy player at Huddersfield six years ago and has to dose himself up with tablets before games to ensure he does not have a fit on the pitch.

“I thought my dream of becoming a footballer was over,” he said. “But there are no restrictions and I can play as normal. I’ve not had a seizure in over 18 months.”
