9 migrants held after getting to coast in an inflatable boat

NINE suspected illegal immigrants were found on the coast at Folkestone after arriving in an inflatable boat.

Kent Police were called at 6.54am on Sunday over concerns for a boat off Dover. The Border Force responded, finding a small vessel that had landed close to Folkestone Harbour.

The Home Office said the nine people aboard, all Iranian, LANDING Folkestone Harbour will now “be processed in line with the immigration rules.”

Border authorities have responded to a series of similar incidents on the Dover coast in the past week. On Wednesday, the coastguard picked up three boats carrying a total 24 people.

On Tuesday, 14 men and three children – all Iranian – were stopped at Dover on a fishing boat reportedly stolen in France.
