TRICKY Remembering faces PEOPLE are better at remembering names than faces, a study has found.
It is only when we recognise someone that we then realise we have forgotten their name.
University of York researchers set up a recall test for both.
To make it harder they used different images of the same person while the monikers were in different typefaces.
Participants recognised fewer than two thirds of faces compared to more than eight in 10 names.
Lead author Dr Rob Jenkins said: “Our study suggests that, while many people may be bad at remembering names, they are likely to be even worse at remembering faces.

The newsreader and partner Aljaz Skorjanec faced former cricketer Graeme Swann and Oti Mabuse in the dance-off after their scores, combined with the public vote, put them last.
Kate and Aljaz, 28, performed their American Smooth to Everlasting Love, by Love Affair, again, while Graeme, 39, and Oti repeated their theatre and Kate and Aljaz say goodbye jazz routine to The Trolley Song from the film Meet Me In St Louis.
The judges last night unanimously chose to save Graeme and Oti, 28, meaning Kate and Aljaz had to waltz away from the dance floor.
Kate, 48, said it had been a “magical experience”. She added: “Aljaz is one of life’s more special people and we’ve become such good friends. It’s been brilliant. I hoped it would be joyful and gleeful and it was.” KATE SILVERTON ON HER STRICTLY COME DANCING EXPERIENCE
