Smart meter roll-out woes

DELAYS A smart meter SMART meter installation rates will have to be tripled to hit the national roll-out deadline of 2020, say consumer champion Which?

It claimed energy firms must install 30 a minute, every day, for the next two years, to finish the project.

The consumer group’s Alex Neill said: “It’s time for the Government to replan. It’s massively delayed.”

But a Government spokesman insisted it remained committed to the smart meter target.
