Loony for Rooney

■ What is all the hype about Wayne Rooney wearing an England shirt for one last time (Mirror, Nov 15)? Just why exactly is he considered so amazing? Did I miss something? While playing for England what silverware did we win? Nothing. He now lives in the USA, so why the honour at Wembley?

It is time the Rooneys and the Beckhams decide England or America and if it’s the latter then they should stay there and out of our public eye. They were only footballers at the end of the day.

■ It seems hard to understand what the problem is with this Tory Government.

Are they genuinely without common sense or are they totally uncaring? How can they possibly justify keeping desperate people waiting for five weeks while their Universal Credit payment, to which they are entitled, comes through? Howard Gardner, Sale Gtr Manchester
