JAMES FORREST finally silenced the doubters by opening his account for Scotland – in style.

He has proved in cup finals and the Champions League that he is a man for the big occasion with Celtic.

Yet questions were growing about the winger’s ability to reproduce that form for his country going into his 25th internatio­nal appearance without a goal to his name.

But he broke that duck in Albania and added a second for good measure.

And it was not like buses coming along together after waiting at the stop for ages.

These were more like a couple of Rolls-Royces, adding to a fabulous opener from Ryan Fraser and Steven Fletcher’s penalty.

Forrest aims to add to his jaw-dropping double against Israel tomorrow night when Scotland can win promotion to League B.

He said: “Saturday definitely up there.

“Scoring for Scotland in a was competitiv­e game was special. I think it will give me confidence that I can score more going forward.

“It was a great feeling and I was pleased my goals helped us win. It was a great performanc­e.

“It’s taken a while but you just try not to think about it. You always hope you get chances, and I have been getting them.

“I’m just glad I got on the scoresheet. I was absolutely delighted. It was a great night.

“To win my 25th cap, score two goals and contribute to the win was amazing.

“Hopefully we can take that on to the Israel game. When you are playing with confidence things come off.” Forrest admitted he was in the mood in Shkoder as injuryhit Scotland clicked into gear against Albania, who had Mergim Mavraj sent off in the 21st minute for headbuttin­g Ryan Christie.

He said: “Even at the start of the game I thought we could score. We started really well and had chances even when they had 11 men. “When a team goes down to 10 men sometimes they can sit back and make it hard for you. It can go the opposite way. But
