MCLEISH’S CALL TO ARMS

- BY IAIN MACFARLANE

SCOTLAND boss Alex McLeish last night rallied the Tartan Army to come out in numbers and support players he insists care deeply about reaching Euro 2020.

McLeish called on fans to pack out Hampden tomorrow when a win against Israel will seal a place in the play-offs for the next major finals.

Against a backdrop of call-offs and claims many of those no longer had Scotland at heart, the 4-0 Nations League win in Albania was a welcome lift for McLeish (below) and his team. He said: “We thank the fans who came to Albania. We gave them something to cheer. “They should now be phoning around all their pals and saying, ‘Get to Hampden on Tuesday’. “We’ve had some twists in terms of players missing and not having full squads available in the past few games. Some things are out of our control. “But I know if we can get the right formula we can produce that type of performance.”
