Friends jailed over massive TalkTalk hack
TWO friends have been jailed for their roles in a £77million hack on the TalkTalk website.
Matthew Hanley, 23, and Connor Allsopp, 21, admitted charges relating to the massive breach of customers’ data in 2015.
Judge Anuja Dhir jailed Hanley for a year and Allsopp for eight months at the Old Bailey.
She said: “Your actions caused misery and distress to many thousands.”
Investigations revealed 1.6 million accounts containing sensitive data were hit by up to 10 hackers.
The court heard TalkTalk boss Dido Harding was subjected to blackmail demands for Bitcoins.
