KICK OUT THE CITY ‘CHEATS’

La Liga chief launches angry attack on Etihad giants over financial fair play rule claims

- BY DARREN LEWIS

MANCHESTER CITY are facing calls to be kicked out of the Champions League if they have broken rules on financial fair play.

La Liga chief Javier Tebas (right) has launched a scathing attack on the Premier League champions and their French counterparts Paris Saint-Germain, urging UEFA to take action, if it is proven they have broken rules.

Football Leaks have published details which claim City and the French side have flouted the rules on FFP and Tebas has called for tough punishments. Tebas, speaking

event in Miami, said: “Forcing them to sit out a year of the Champions League would send a message that these rules must be taken seriously.

“I said two years ago that PSG and Manchester City were cheating so it wasn’t a surprise to me at all.

“It’s very important that UEFA does something real about it. It’s something that has unbalanced world football and the structure of the game.”

City last night refused to add to their initial response to the allegations, calling them an “organised and clear” attempt to “damage the club’s reputation.”
