Poo bacteria in pub chains’ ice and soda
ICE and soda served at pub chains was contaminated with faecal bacteria, an investigation found.
Bacteria were found at Harvester, Hungry Horse, JD Wetherspoon, Slug and Lettuce, and Marston’s Two For One last month.
Undercover reporters for Watchdog on BBC1 tonight took the samples.
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health said it may be a health risk and “is a concern”.
Slug & Lettuce “immediately investigated”, Hungry Horse said its dispensers had been deep cleaned, and staff at Two for One are being retrained.
Wetherspoon said it had “taken on board the finding of the report” but Harvester disputed the science used by Watchdog.
