GIGGS SLAMS HIS COCKY STARS
RYAN GIGGS tore into his Wales flops after last night’s embarrassing friendly defeat.
Bekim Balaj’s second-half penalty condemned Wales boss Giggs to a fifth defeat in his ninth game.
Albania, who lost 4-0 to Scotland last week, grabbed a 59th-minute winner with their first shot on target after Taulant Xhaka was brought down by Harry Wilson.
Not even the introduction of star duo Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale off the bench could save Wales in a disappointing second period.
Real Madrid star Bale was even booked for a daft foul in frustration before home fans, whose country are ranked 60th by FIFA, invaded the pitch after the final whistle.
Giggs, in charge since January, fumed: “The performance was not good enough and the result was what we deserved.
“We controlled the first half and thought it was going to be easy. We should have won that game – we were in total control. But they let themselves down tonight. We go a goal down, we don’t play our own game, we are pumping the ball in their box.
“Quite simply, we turned up thinking we would win and thinking someone would get us out of trouble.”
Defeat took the gloss off Chris Gunter’s record 93rd appearance for Wales to overtake Neville Southall.
