Disc firm in a spin

-

The owner of kids’ TV hit Peppa Pig has been left counting the cost of a slump in DVD sales.

Entertainment One revealed £57million of one-off costs in its half-year results, helping to push it from a £2.3m profit to a £40m loss.

The plunge came as it cut the value of its home entertainment arm where online streaming has led to a fall in demand for DVDs.

If those are excluded, then profits rose 7% to £42m, helped by Peppa Pig, which is celebrating its

15th year.

Another 117 episodes of the show begin next spring, with the firm cashing in on the Year of the Pig to ramp up its already storming success in China.
