69 is average at oldest spot

THE place in the country with the highest average age is South Downham in Norfolk, at 69.4 years.

It is also the only one of the top 10 oldest areas that is not by the sea.

Office for National Statistics figures showing ages in 8,297 council wards also reveal two areas, in Bath and Lancaster, have averages below 21.
