Lov affair is with himself

-

DEJAN LOVREN has a knack of jinxing himself before every big game by bigging himself up, then being bitten on the backside.

Who can forget this beaut on the eve of the World Cup final: “You all criticised me, but in fact I am one of the best defenders in the world.”

It had many who followed his Liverpool career betting heavily on France to score more goals against Lovren’s Croatia than any finalist since Brazil in 1970. And winning.

Fast-forward to Sunday and his tweet before the game at Wembley: “Now to beat England and walk out like a boss!” Cue defeat and relegation.

He’d be best advised to concentrate on matters much closer to home.

Like how to get the Liverpool shirt off the back of the youngster who was once again playing out of his skin at the other end of that Wembley pitch, Joe Gomez.
