Postie finds bag missing for 40 years

-

A postman has returned a stolen handbag to its owner nearly 40 years after she was mugged.

Mike Izzard, 45, was planting daffodil bulbs at a disused railway station when he found the cream leather bag.

He discovered several coins, a front door key, a Midland Bank cheque card and an Access card dated 1979-1981 bearing the name Angela Dimond.

After posting pictures of his find on social media he found Angela and returned the items that day.

Mike, from Hatfield, Herts, said: “It’s like something from a movie script, it’s just bizarre.”

He found the bag at Nast Hyde Halt station.
