Ruddy menace
AMBER Rudd once claimed benefit claimants lived in her Hastings constituency because they liked to be by the seaside.
Today we reveal what life is really like in the Work and Pensions Secretary’s patch.
If she bothered to speak to constituents she would find people sleeping rough because of Universal Credit, mums struggling to feed children as a result of welfare cuts and an 80% rise in the use of food-banks in the last year. These are not people seeking a sea view. They are residents of a proud town let down by years of Tory austerity.
Ms Rudd is blind to life on her doorstep and blind to the consequences of the welfare reforms which have led to this destitution.
