Santa Claus cancels Xmas for students

BAH HUMBUG The school A SECONDARY school has cancelled Christmas... unless students can argue why they should celebrate.

Santa Claus turned up in assembly telling the 1,253 pupils that cards, gifts and all other festive activities had been banned.

The youngsters were told that the real meaning of Christmas had been “lost under an avalanche of commercialisation”.

The ban at Lady Lumley’s School in Pickering, North Yorks, can still be overturned.

Pupils must write a persuasive argument about why they should mark the festive season.

Headteacher Richard Bramley said: “It’s about getting kids to take a step back and to get them thinking about the true meaning of Christmas.”
