New vote backed in every seat
EVERY constituency now backs a referendum on Theresa May’s Brexit deal terms, a poll has found.
And the majority now support staying in the EU, including seats held by Brexiteers Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg.
The poll – by Populus for Best for Britain and Hope not Hate – surveyed more than 8,000 people, with 81 constituencies changing allegiance over the past four months to back staying in the EU.
Mr Johnson’s seat of Uxbridge and South Ruislip now backs Remain by 53.5% after favouring Leave by 56.4% in 2016.
And Mr Rees-Mogg’s North East Somerset seat supports staying in the EU by 53.8% despite a 52.1% Leave vote in 2016.
Some 66.2% of those polled backed a final say by the public on any deal.
Tory MP Dominic Grieve said: “There is now overwhelming evidence that the will of the people is changing.”
