Nation is braced for a blast of 60mph gales and downpours

Waves during Storm Callum BRITAIN will be lashed by 60mph gales and heavy rain as Storm Diana arrives on our shores this week.

The Met Office warned a weather system coming from the Azores in the Mid-Atlantic will hit the west coast of the UK.

South West England, Wales, Lancashire, Cumbria, Ireland and Scotland are likely to be worst affected when the storm blows in on Wednesday. Met Office forecaster Craig Snell said: “It has been named Diana by the Portuguese as it hits the Azores.

“We already have a separate front of wet and windy weather, unrelated to that, forecast for the UK on Tuesday. That is from another system. The strongest winds are likely to come in on Wednesday and hit the western parts of the UK.

“The gales will be severe and will reach up to 60mph.”

Diana is the fourth storm system to hit the UK this year after Ali, Bronagh and Callum. It Sadness as all the judges vote them off is feared a total of five could arrive by Christmas.
