- BY CLAIRE HERBAUX

HERO Richard Gaman A DOG walker who revived a man who had tried to kill himself said he thought the body he found on a beach was a dummy.

Incredibly, Richard Gaman managed to save the man whose heart and breathing had stopped.

Richard, 46, said: “I thought he was a mannequin, but then I realised he was a real person.”

He rang 999 and spoke to Sarah Fisher who encouraged him to do CPR for 20 minutes. She said: “Richard was convinced the young man was dead.”

The anonymous man, who was rescued by the Severn Estuary, near Bristol, said: “It was almost certain I would die, but I’m so grateful I survived.”

Richard said: “Seeing him in hospital afterwards made it all worthwhile.”
