EIGHT years ago, aged just 18, George North became the youngest player to score two tries against a tier one nation when he made his debut in a 29-25 defeat to South Africa.
Among the 78 matches since, there have been a World Cup semifinal, two Six Nations titles, including a Grand Slam, and 34 tries.
Add a Lions series win to the highlights reel and it’s clear the giant wing knows what it takes to make a global impact.
There were no tries for North (above) in his latest reunion with the Springboks – those were scored by Tomas Francis and Liam Williams as Wales flew into a 14-0 lead.
But after a fourth successive win over these opponents, and their ninth Test victory in a row, he reckons Wales have positioned themselves perfectly for an assault on the Six Nations and World Cup.
“This has been one of the best campaigns I have been involved with,” said North, after Wales’ first autumn clean sweep.
“It’s huge. The first ever clean sweep is not to be sniffed at. The boys are tremendously proud.
“It has taken a lot of hard work, not only this five-week block we’ve had, but the summer tour and Jantjies.
