IT’S A MESS OF THE BLUES

-

DAVID LUIZ said Maurizio Sarri has been angrier after victories than after the defeat by Tottenham. Luiz struggled badly as Tottenham pulled Chelsea apart but the Brazil defender insisted it could be the wake-up call needed to get their season back on track.

“He (Sarri) has been many times angrier when we’ve won,” Luiz (left) said. “Of course he’s not happy, like every single player is not happy, but I think it’s good for us to be reminded that the Premier League is never easy. It’s not easy to win any game.

“We played really badly, we didn’t have the intensity we’ve shown in other games. The good thing is that we have another game next week, an opportunity to recover and gain some points. And soon we have Manchester City so we can try and make the gap a bit smaller then.”

After Sarri (above) revealed that none of his players impressed him, Luiz called for more protection from referees after the treatment dished out to Blues playmaker Eden Hazard.

“Not just Eden. Every player in the world, especially ball players with skill, need more protection,” he said. “Eden is a strong player, and strong physically. He can get some tackles, some taps, when he is on the ball. It’s part of football. But if opponents are doing this all the time then referees need to show a yellow card.”
