BREAK-UP Emily Atack, & inset with Jack Vacher

EMILY Atack has admitted her former model ex was so handsome she sometimes struggled to stand next to him at celebrity events.

The Inbetweeners star captured viewers’ hearts after confessing to being heartbroken over her failed romance with Jack Vacher.

On Sunday she admitted to Noel Edmonds, 69, she was looking to meet the perfect guy after the split and had been unlucky in love.

Emily, 28, said: “I’m soul searching, I had a difficult start to the year. I had a break-up after being with someone for five years.

“I’d got into the habit of needing that security, love and acceptance from a guy to make me happy.”

She and Jack, who is five years younger, became an item after she spotted him working for US retailer Abercrombie & Fitch.

She revealed in February 2016: “I had friends who worked there, so I made a few enquiries and when I found out he was single...”

They moved in to together at the end of 2015 in London.

She said: “I like my men to be men and make me feel protected and secure, and Jack does that.

“I love him to bits and because his modelling work takes him away from the UK he understands the unpredictable nature of my career.

“All the same, when he was in Malaysia on a contract for two months I missed him so much that I threw myself into his arms at the airport and sobbed, ‘Never again!’.”

In February 2016 they attended the premiere of the Dad’s Army film, in which she starred.

Looking back on a picture from that event for an article in May 2016, Emily admitted she found Jack almost too attractive. She said: “It’s nice to look at a photo of my boyfriend Jack, OPEN Emily in the jungle

he’s rather handsome. Sometimes I don’t want to stand next to him for that reason. He’s a model so is used to celeb events. I struggle getting ready for things.” But it is thought things began to go downhill the following year. Friends close to the pair say it was a mutual decision to split up at the end of 2017 and the relationship had run its course. Emily is trying to forge a career in comedy with a tour planned next year, while Jack is based in West London where he is a senior lettings negotiator with an estate agent. A source said: “It was just one of those things where it just didn’t work out. Both of them were very sad as they had dated for a long time but it was best that Emily moved on. “She realises now Jack was not right for her and hopes she can meet someone new. “She has joked in camp how no man would want her after the trials she has done but in reality she has won over lots of male and female admirers on the show.” Another huge fan of hers is Phoenix Nights star Ted Robbins, 63, who has revealed how Emily, his niece, helped him recover from an on-stage heart attack in 2015. The actor, who played Den Perry, collapsed in front of 25,000 people at the Manchester Arena during a reunion of Peter Kay’s sitcom. He was told he was “clinically dead” before two audience members saved his life. When Ted came round in hospital, Emily, who is his sister Kate’s daughter, was there. He said: “Emily had mascara on. She was crying and said, ‘Uncle Ted, I love you.’ “I said, ‘I love you too. Why are you crying?’ “She said, ‘I don’t know, every time I see you I’m always laughing. I’m always cheeky to you.’” “I held her hand as I spoke to her and said, ‘You’re not cheeky. Enjoy your life to the full.’”
