Speed ticket MP new trial

AN MP accused of lying to avoid a speeding charge faces a retrial after the jury failed to reach a verdict.

Fiona Onasanya, 35, allegedly colluded with her brother Festus, 33, to escape prosecution for going 41mph in a 30mph zone on July 24 last year.

The Peterborough MP denies perverting the course of justice.

At the Old Bailey, Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC thanked the jury for their “care and attention” in considering the case.
