1 pub in 4 has shut in 10yrs
NEARLY one in four pubs has closed in the past decade, figures show.
A total of 11,000 have shut since 2008, with small boozers bearing the brunt.
The number across the UK now stands at 39,000, down by 23% in 10 years.
The biggest losses have been in the fringes of cities but more have survived in tourist areas like the Highlands and Lake District.
The Beer and Pub Association said: “They are under increasing pressure.”
