Bomb plotter found dead in his prison cell

HANGED Nicky Reilly A MUSLIM convert jailed for attempting to bomb a restaurant was found hanging in his cell, an inquest heard yesterday.

Nicky Reilly, 30, was serving at least 18 years and had been moved to HMP Manchester a year before his death in 2016.

Reilly, who called himself Mohammed Saeed Alim, injured only himself during a botched terror attack in Exeter in 2008.

Giving evidence, his mother Kim said her son was bullied at school, was sectioned aged 16 and she thought he converted to Islam to fit in somewhere.

She told jurors: “I thought it was a fad.”

A fortnight before his death he told her his moods were “up and down”. The hearing in Heywood continues.
