Babes ‘killer’ attacked girl ‘for revenge’

ON TRIAL Russell Bishop THE man accused of the Babes in the Woods murders said he later molested a girl of seven to “belittle and shame” her.

Russell Bishop told a jury he snatched the child in 1990 because he had been harassed for three years since being cleared of killing Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway, both nine.

He said he assaulted the girl to “belittle and shame her because I was bloody angry at everyone”.

Bishop, who denied being a “predatory paedophile”, left the girl for dead and was later convicted of her attempted murder.

He is on trial at the Old Bailey for a second time accused of murdering Nicola and Karen in Brighton. Bishop denies it and the trial continues.
