Haydock comes off the fence

HAYDOCK officials have already eased their controversial fences following Saturday’s Betfair Chase card that saw a higher than average number of fallers.

“It’s clear we’ve got them a bit too stiff and we’re going to have to address that for the next fixture,” said clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright yesterday.

Nicky Henderson blamed the fences for Betfair Chase favourite Might Bite’s (above) defeat, reporting the King George winner to have been left in “panic mode” by the jumps.
