GOGGLE BOX

Mourinho tells his United stars if they are feeling the pressure they should stay at home and watch the match on television

- BY DAVID MCDONNELL

JOSE MOURINHO has told his underperforming Manchester United stars to “stay at home”, if they can’t handle the pressure of playing for the club.

United have endured a miserable start to the season and their struggles continued with Saturday’s goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace.

Mourinho’s side have won more times away than at home this term, with just three victories from nine games in all competitions at Old Trafford.

But the Reds boss dismissed the suggestion his team feels

more pressure playing at Old Trafford and said, if that is the case, they should stay at home and watch tonight’s Champions League game against Young Boys on TV.

Mourinho said: “I refuse to say that (my players prefer to play away). It would be a lack of respect to the stadium and fans.

“If you ask me if I prefer to play against Young Boys here or go to Bern, I’d say to play at home. Always. If you feel pressure, stay at home and watch on TV. I don’t feel pressure to play at home.”

The match against the Swiss side is not sold out, which is almost unheard of for a Champions League game at Old Trafford.
