Comedians Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise are flanked by The Tiller Girls during rehearsals for the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium. Attended by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and Lord Snowdon, the performance also included the England football team – fresh from their World Cup victory – comic Frankie Howard and American singer Gene Pitney.
