ANNE Hegerty made an emergency exit during the Hellish Hospital Bushtucker Trial but still managed to bag seven stars.

The Chase star, 60, entered to find a bed and cupboards filled with spiders and crabs, with stars hidden amongst them.

In a second room, more stars were mixed in with offal and critters. She then had to go through a tunnel with a monitor lizard – which was when she shouted: “I’m a celebrity... Get me out of here!”

Anne was praised by campmates. And on Good Morning Britain yesterday, her close pal and The Chase co-star Mark Labbett explained how she was checked thoroughly before going into the jungle – with the cost apparently running into tens of thousands.

He said: “The medical they go through, Anne is 60 years old, not 21. The rigorous checks, the medical must have cost £20,000 to £30,000 per person.

“They can’t take any risks. If they say she can’t do a trial for medical reasons, it has got nothing to do with her Asperger’s.”

Mark also explained why Anne quit her first trial, winning just two stars. He said: “She reacts terribly to the unexpected, the first trial threw her.”
