Trendy beer sales surge

TAKE-HOME sales of craft beers have soared by 30%.

An extra 17 million pints were bought over the past 12 months,

The total spent in offsales has hit a record £128.3million, according to analyst Kantar for trade magazine The Grocer.

Craft beers are getting more space in supermarke­ts at the expense of less fashionabl­e labels because they are more profitable.

The Grocer said: “Craft has come of age.”

Up to 34% of drinkers are trying it at the pub.
