VIKINGS PURSUE GELLING IN DRAGONS DEN

WIDNES are taking legal advice after it emerged close-season signing Anthony Gelling has trained at Catalans Dragons.

The former Wigan Grand Final winner was the Vikings’ highestprofile 2019 recruit, but signed before the club’s relegation to the Championship. Widnes have maintained Gelling would still be joining them as they bid to win promotion back to Super League.

But reports emerged in France he trained at the Dragons’ base in Perpignan, and the player took to Twitter to confirm there is “interest, but no deal”.

Gelling ruled out playing for the Vikings because he says his partner and children have visa issues. He wrote: “My family are not eligible for UK residency.”
