She’s a glamorous LA actress who wed a pop star from Stoke-on-Trent.

And Ayda Field could not wait to check out husband Robbie Williams’ “idyllic” hometown.

“Rob was like, ‘I don’t know whether idyllic is the word’.”

She continues: “Rob had just got the key to the city and we took [our daughter] Teddy to the park and we were having this really lovely moment.

“There were kids and one of these kids was riding a bike.

“Robbie said, ‘It was sweet growing up here, it was really nice’. And just as he said that, the other kids knocked the kid off the bike, beat him up and stole his bike.

“We laughed, naturally.” Still, Ayda – who says she is a fan of oatcakes – and fell in love with the city.

She adds: “I love Stoke-on-Trent, it is where Rob grew up.

“He gets nostalgic there, I get nostalgic there, but it is very different from Beverly Hills.” Ayda sees herself as an honorary Brit since marrying Robbie, 44.

She has even vowed to get a British passport.

The actress particularly likes our television shows and adds she has taken to ITV’s X Factor “like a crack whore to an alley”.

“I always had an oddball sense of humour,” she admits on the Is It Just Me? podcast. “I was a bit of a humour black sheep.

“I would make these jokes full of irony and dark cynicism and that just didn’t work when I was seven, people did not laugh.

“Robbie minced into my life and he had the same oddball sense of humour as me. It was love at first laugh.”
