Coast town’s happy crown

TV star Meghan in Malta in 2015 LEIGH-ON-SEA has been crowned the happiest place to live in Britain.

The coastal town took its 2016 title back from Leamington Spa, ahead of Farnham and Monmouth.

It scored highly for community spirit in Rightmove’s Happy At Home index. Valerie Morgan, its council’s chair, said: “We’re all quite friendly here.” Happiest places to live: 1. Leighon-Sea, Essex; 2. Farnham, Surrey; 3. Monmouth, South Wales; 4. Christchur­ch, Dorset; 5. Leamington Spa, Warks.
