Don’t dive in on Maddison
LEICESTER’S James Maddison turned 22 on Friday, the day before playing in a match in which he was sent off for a dive so blatant it was laughable.
But he wasn’t laughing as he made the walk of shame back to the dressing room, just dying of embarrassment as the scale of the humiliation he had heaped on himself sunk in.
Before any Match of the Day pundit could rip him apart he took to social media to say: “Nobody wants to see diving... I was anticipating contact that never came, but that’s no excuse. I will learn from it.”
He sounded genuine and, as it’s only his 12th Premier League game, he deserves the chance to prove he will learn rather than being marked down as a cheat.
