Misery is mounting for Henry

- HARD TO SWALLOW

THIERRY HENRY’S rotten season suffered another blow when MONACO were beaten by ATLETICO MADRID and left winless in Group A.

Henry has won just once in his eight games in charge and Monaco are secondbottom of France’s Ligue 1.

And things got worse within two minutes last night in Spain. With space just outside the box, Koke let fly and his shot deflected in off Benoit Badiashile to deal Monaco a bitter blow in only the second minute.

Henry’s side had a lucky escape soon after when Thomas Lemar’s fierce shot crashed back off a post.

But their luck ran out midway through the first half when Atletico scored a wonderful second.

Some smart team build-up saw Antoine Griezmann feed Angel Correa, who left one defender on his backside before pulling back for Griezmann, who curled home beautifully with the outside of his left foot.

Eight minutes from time, Henry’s misery was complete. Stefan Savic was shown a second yellow for handball in the box, but Radamel Falcao shot wide from the penalty spot instead of handing Monaco a way back in a 2-0 loss.

A goal in each half was enough for LOKOMOTIV MOSCOW to earn a 2-0 win over GALATASARAY in Group D, ending Gala’s hopes of the knockout stages and sending Porto and Schalke through.

The Turkish side fell behind just before the interval to a goal from Paris Saint-Germain loanee Grzegorz Krychowiak.

Nine minutes into the second half, Lokomotiv added a second through Vladislav Ignatyev.

PORTO wrapped up Group D by beating SCHALKE 3-1 with goals from Eder Militao, Jesus Manuel Corona and Moussa Marega.
