DRIES JUST MAGIC WITH STAR SHOW

DRIES MERTENS turned in a supershow to keep Napoli top of Group C and facing a final-day showdown with Liverpool.

Napoli knew they could not afford a slip-up at home to the group whipping boys.

They got off to a flying start when Marek Hamsik gave them the lead after 11 minutes, converting from a corner by Mertens (above).

And 12 minutes from the break, they made sure there was not going to be an upset that would help Jurgen Klopp’s Reds when Mertens turned goalscorer to finish off a good team move.

Mertens continued his man of the match performance early in the second half when Hamsik’s pass split the Red Star defence, and Mertens latched on to finish confidently past keeper Milan Borjan.

Marko Marin picked out El Fardou Ben to beat David Ospina for a consolation.
