Researchers said 17% of kids in a survey had symptoms of foetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

Dr Cheryl McQuire led the study at Bristol and Cardiff universities. She said: “It suggests FASD is likely to be a STUDY Dr Cheryl McQuire significant health concern. Estimates suggest three -quarters of women drink in pregnancy. This suggests many individuals could have symptoms of FASD.” But the British Pregnancy Advisory Service urged caution. It said: “This study does not prove causal link between drinking and development. It may cause pregnant women needless anxiety.” The disorder affects learning and behaviour and can cause physical disabilities.
